01. General Assembly of the CID
The 19th General Assembly of the CID will take place in Istanbul,
Turkey, on 27 November 2011, that is the last day of the Ottoman
Dance Congress. Members who will not attend can vote by proxy. A
proxy form will be sent by email to be printed, signed and sent by
letter. Date to be confirmed.
02. Congress on Ottoman dance
Belly dance is only a small part of the dances practiced in the
various lands belonging to the Ottoman Empire until 1900. This rich
heritage will be explored for the first time, in theory and practice.
The Congress will take place in Istanbul 24-27 November 2011. Dates
to be confirmed.
03. Dances as Cultural Heritage of Humanity
Several dances and dance customs have been officially recognized by
UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. You
can ask the Secretariat to send you a list. CID Sections can propose
other dances to UNESCO for recognition.
04. Workshop in Russia
The Rostov Section of CID UNESCO organizes a workshop on modern,
jazz, Afro, contemporary and hip-hop dance 23-27 August 2011.
05. New CID Section in Georgia
A Section of the CID has been founded in Tbilisi, the capital of
Georgia. The Tbilisi Section has been officially recognized as
representing the full spectrum of dance; it welcomes cooperation
with all countries.
06. New site
The Naxos Section of CID has created a website with painting
masterpieces showing exquisite women. Visit it for the pleasure of
the eyes or to copy pictures for decorating.

07. Oriental dance festival, South Africa
In Cape Town, 27-30 October 2011. Planning to break the world record
of 826 belly dancers performing simultaneously. Inviting
participants.
08. CID World Congress in San Marino
The 32nd World Congress on Dance Research will take place in the
Republic of San Marino 27 June to 01 July 2012. Registrations are
open for research reports (scientific papers), performances,
classes, lectures, exhibitions, video projections. The CID World
Congress is the most prestigious international event in the field of
dance. Average attendance is 400 from 40 countries of the 5
continents. Participation is reserved to professionals.
09. Festival in Brazil
Folklore Festival 17-25 August 2012 at Passo Fundo invites ensembles
from all countries.
10. Free listing
Send your free listing to the Global Directory "Who 's Who in
Dance", containing 200,000 dance professionals in 200 countries.
