To dancers in Arab countries
On behalf of the International Dance Council CID I wish to express
my sympathy and support of democratic changes in Arab countries.
I am confident that the ongoing upheavals will bring about, with the
help of the United Nations, the necessary changes for full respect
of the rights of the citizens, freedom of expression and application
without restrictions of the Charter of Human Rights.
Democracy will bring prosperity and the noble art of dance will be
allowed to flourish in countries where it has been terribly
suppressed until now.
I kindly ask you to inform your colleagues in dance that the
International Dance Council CID at UNESCO remains at their side and
wishes them all the courage required to face the present hardships.

Je ne sais pas si l'internet fonctionne bien dans votre pays
actuellement, mais j'aimerais exprimer le soutien du Conseil
International de la Danse CID à tous les changements démocratiques.
Le CID espère vivement que les bouleversements en cours engendreront,
avec l'aide de l’Organisation des Nations Unies, les changements
nécessaires pour aboutir à des régimes démocratiques qui
respecteront les droits des citoyens, la liberté d'expression et la
pleine application de la Charte des Droits de l'Homme.
La démocratie apportera la prospérité et l'épanouissement de la
danse, un art noble qui était jusqu'à présent souvent refoulé.
Je vous prie d'informer par tous les moyens vos collègues en danse
que le Conseil International de la Danse CID auprès de l'UNESCO
reste à leurs cotés et leur souhaite tout le courage nécessaire pour
faire face à cette situation difficile et aborder une ère nouvelle.
